Opportunity: My husband, Brian Colbert, ran for San Anselmo Town Council as a first-time political candidate up against two incumbents and two other candidates.

Solution: We developed several key strategies that we believe won Brian the highest number of votes and a seat on council.

  • Hyper-local storytelling about Brian in the community (through posters such as those pictured above utilized around the community and on social media)
  • A focus on a key piece of Brian’s story that set him apart… the only candidate with a school-aged child, along with strong taglines introducing him as a new voice
  • A strong, simple, no frills “purple” brand across materials
  • Data-driven understanding of how many votes would be required to win, targeted canvassing and getting out the vote
